Clarke captained a cast of notoriously aggressive players who were nicknamed the Broad Street Bullies because of their physical style of play. The intimidating force of the Flyers helped them win two consecutive Staley Cups in 1974 and 1975, becoming the first expansion team to accomplish this feat.
